Oxford Observatory in North Canterbury, is moving to protect its night sky, as it looks to enter into New Zealand's growing astro-tourism market. The astronomers are preparing a submission to the Waimakariri District Council's District Plan Review to protect the night sky. All going well, this will involve the installation of shielded, low glare, night sky-friendly, amber 2200 K LED street lights.
